Janes Eggs

Jane runs a small holding with her husband John and son Michael. They keep a flock of 130 mainly Goldline hens.

Jane and Rowen collecting the eggs

Each week Jane brings over the fresh eggs to us at Tree of Life on every Tuesday afternoon. They are packed in the boxes with the fresh fruit and vegetables and delivered to the door or to the drop off points every Wednesday and Thursday.
Jane is also a member of the Soil Association who offer the highest animal welfare standards.

Soil Association producers number: G2065

The hens are fed on organic, GM free layers pellets and corn. The hens roam over a large paddock and are protected from foxes by an electric fence.
Jane picks up the eggs 4 to 5 times a day to make sure they don't get damaged or dirty. The hens are moved to a different patch on the small holding once a month so they can graze fresh grass, scratch about for worms, bugs and other creepy crawlies! They are of course very good at keeping slugs, snails and other pest populations down by eating them at the egg stage
